SOPHOMORE, Harvey Knight

HIKARU KNIGHT

Born as Hikaru Hayama on one of the frostier nights in January, he originally lived a fairly normal life with his parents in suburban Japan. However, as fate would have it, he ended up losing both his mother and father in fairly quick succession, his mother being diagnosed with terminal cancer and dying not long after. His father tried his best to raise his son alone but unable to cope, he eventually drank himself to death also leaving Hikaru alone in the world. At the time of his mother's death, he was 3 and on the day his father died, he had just turned 5.

As such, Hikaru found himself moving from home to home before eventually meeting the Knights, an influential family in the world of finance. The current head of the family, Charles Knight and his wife, Katharyn Knight were unable to conceive children with their doctor stating that they only had about a 1 in 400 chance of ever succeeding. As such, they decided to adopt. At that time, Hikaru had already begun establishing himself as a future name to look out for. Aloof and cold yet intelligent and driven, the young boy seemed dead set on improving his lot in life.

The infertility of Charles Knight was big news, as it would turn out. The other members of the Knight family were now on the prowl, doing whatever they could to secure themselves a large chunk of the fortune once Charles passed away. Since he was heirless, it could have passed to anybody or even been divided which is more or less what led Charles and Katharyn to adopt. Originally, the power couple from England had not even considered looking at a Japanese orphanage but after hearing about it on national news, the young Hikaru sent a letter which managed to reach Charles.

The letter told a tale of ill fate and poverty, of resentment and anger and definitely not in the style of a 12 year old boy. Unconvinced that the letter was sent by a child, Charles traveled to meet the writer. Upon meeting Hikaru and after having a long talk with the boy, Charles decided to adopt him much to the chagrin of the other Knight family members. Hikaru took the surname of his new father. Due to his inability to pronounce it properly, Charles insisted on calling Hikaru by the name of Harvey, something that eventually stuck. He was now heir to a large corporation but his luck was not to last.

Katharyn was pregnant.

The chances were low, so miniscule that "Harvey" did not even consider it. Although he was the eldest, there was no way that he would inherit before a true born son or daughter. Angered at being displaced, Harvey changed and for the worse as well. Originally, he was aloof and hard to approach yes, but of a good nature. But now, he had become inconsiderate and even colder than before eventually entering into a deep self loathing when the thought of getting rid of his unborn brother/sister somehow actually crossed his mind.

No longer the heir to anything and fearing for the safety of his sanity and his yet to be born sibling, he argued with his father before getting the aging Charles to agree to a transfer of schools.
 


- the name that his stepparents gave him, Harvey, is actually the name that they had wanted to name their first born biological son.
- his english is here and thereabouts. he was ever the reader and knows a lot about complicated concepts but because he did not grow up in an english speaking country, there are a lot of common phrases that he has never heard before.
- he punches walls when he's angry but now that he no longer believes he has responsibilities to uphold, he could very well begin to hit people to vent instead.
- he really enjoys anime and manga. if there were more financial security in those industries, he would want to be a director.
- he plans on entering the business world and making his fortune there. once he has enough money to safely retire, he plans on using his wealth to fund his own animated feature length film amongst other endeavors.
- he does not plan to have children or get married. (although this could always change)
- he is around 184cm (6'0") and 168lb.
- he had his first girlfriend when he was about 11. this was back when he was still living in the orphanage. after he got adopted, they never officially "broke up" and in harvey's eyes, they are still technically together. she may think otherwise.
