● Born in Fukuoka, raised in San Francisco, Souma is the third and last child of bankers Daisuke and Aika Miyamoto. 
● His father, Daisuke, works in private equity while his mother, Aika, works in Underwriting. Because of the years they dedicated to their careers, money was hardly ever an issue for the Miyamoto family.
● Souma's older brother is elder to him by ten years, his sister, five. His brother currently works as a fashion magazine editor while his sister is in college studying international relations.
● The age gap between him and his siblings pushed him to be extremely gregarious during elementary school, excited to be around kids his age. Majority of his childhood friends were male, so he spent most of his time playing pick-up soccer at the park, playing trading card games, and going on adventures; developing his playfully boyish personality.
● After a long day of playing outside, Souma's favorite thing to do was clean up and relax by reading his sister's shoujo manga. It was his guilty pleasure. Even to this day, he keeps it a secret, afraid that it would affect people's perception of him.
● In middle school, Souma found his love for mathematics and science; the more challenging it was, the more fun he had. He joined the science, mathematics, and robotics club for all three years of junior high, his main social circle being those in the club.
● In addition to clubs, Souma also spent a lot of time tutoring other students. His parents volunteered him to tutor the younger, neighborhood kids. His classmates also came to him for help, so tutoring was something he grew to enjoy.
● Under the encouragement of his teachers and pressure of his parents, Souma enrolled into Regency Academy in his freshman year to further pursue his education in the math and sciences. But because Souma entered the academy alone, he wants to join the soccer team in an effort to make new friends. Playing the game throughout childhood and his natural athleticism gave him an edge in the sport.
● In the summer of his ninth grade year, he visited his uncle's estate in Kyoto for the first time where he was assigned to do errands and tackle odd jobs. It was here, surrounded by shrines and gardens, where he fell in love with nature.


● Souma is heterosexual, though he doesn't mind jokingly calling his best guy friends his boyfriend every once in a while.
● He stands at a stature of 5'10", weighing in at 155lbs. His once slender build has been growing more and more athletic since he began to take interest in sports at the end of junior high school.
● Souma's father is second generation Japanese while is mother was born and raised in Japan. They met while his father was on a business trip in Fukuoka.
● Since pre-school, Souma has attended Japanese supplementary school every Saturday. He hated it at first, but is now quite thankful since it allows him to keep up with the Japanese language and culture. But since enrolling in Regency, his parents no longer required him to attend a local school. Rather, he was expected to maintain his studies with an online tutor.
● Souma's favorite subjects are Physics and Calculus, his least favorite subjects are Literature and History. He currently takes advanced science and math classes which he maintains a fair A in, however he takes average literature and history classes where he passes with a strong B.
● Despite his love for math and math-based subjects, Souma dislikes the fact that he falls into the stereotype of the "Asian kid that's good at math".
● His talents in mathematics have earned him the nickname, The Mathemagician among classmates. His foreign name has also earned him the nickname, Sofa, due to the similarity in sound between that and his first name. While he doesn't mind the former, calling him by the latter irks him a bit.
● Souma's deepest, darkest secret is that he enjoys sappy rom-coms, romantic dramas, women's magazine articles, and shoujo manga. He keeps it on the down low because he's afraid of how it would affect other's perceptions of his masculinity. His older sister is the only he feels truly safe talking about it with.
