With classes excused for the day the campus was almost barren of life. Save for a few students who stuck around after the bell rang to study there was no one around. A few birds hopped along the concrete pecking at anything that could be registered as food. Everything seemed fairly peaceful-
"SON OF A BITCH!!"
The shout echoed off the walls of the academy, the sudden noise sending a few birds into the air as they read the outcry as a predator. Well, she wasn't any threat to them anyway. Rosie sat under the shade of a large tree, bent over herself as she held tightly to her handheld. It had taken nearly fifteen hours just to REACH the boss and she was dead in roughly thirty seconds. With a flurry of muttered curse words she restarted the system mashing the 'A' button angrily. Luckily she always saved before a boss fight.
Crossing her legs one over the other she slumped back against the tree focusing on the screen as she frantically pressed buttons to evade and attack the creature in rapid succession. "Come on, come on, OH SCREW YOU!" She screamed again as the lord of this level fired a massive attack she could not dodge in time. With a growl she slouched forward again, determined to rip this guy a new one. This day had been so aggravating for her, this should be her escape but instead it was making her even angrier.
Though that happened with a lot of games now that she thought about it...
Laughter and a flood of taunts escaped her as the boss finally went down, she held her arms up high and cheered. There it was, the sense of accomplishment she had been searching for the entire fight. With a quick save she shut the power off and set the handheld back into her backpack. Just a few more minutes she figured, it was nice outside today. |

today had been a pretty great summer day, he had gotten all his classes in order. visiting the campus for a bit to see what rooms to avoid and the best path to the rooftop. coming out of the campus with his summer attire on his shoulders. it seemed he wasn't the only one to come back here during the summer. seeing a few students had the same idea, or at least close to it.
following the cobblestone path the boy headed towards the exit. however he was brought to an ABRUPT halt, for before him sat a penny. Facing heads up to Elijah, welp he wasn't about to deny free cash. grasping for the coin and looking at it shine. though the sound of virtual fighting had caught his attention. turning his head to a lass beneath one of the tree.
marching up to the girl and leaning down before her screen, viewing the final boss she appeared to be up against. starring down at the screen before looking up to her. " need some help?" offering his aid against the game's final encounter. he had played and beaten this game not to long ago so his skills would be pretty fresh. though with his words the girl found the killing blow and beat the boss. stuffing the gaming device back into her belongings. " a girl beating a tough boss, color me impressed.'

"Need some help?" The voice was unfamiliar, Rosie looking up to see who it belonged to. The young man wasn't much older then she was from what she could tell, two years three at the very most. With short black hair that framed his face well and his eyes.... oh wow. She felt herself blush slightly looking up into his eyes, she'd never seen someone with such bright blue eyes. It took a couple of seconds but she shook her head, half to respond to his question the other half to get her head straight.
"Nah, I beat his ass pretty good, just took me a second try. But thanks anyway."
He praised how she had beaten the boss herself, saying he was impressed. Flattery would get him nowhe- okay yeah it was pretty impressive. Rosie sat up against the trunk of the large tree looking up through the branches to see it was still pretty early in the afternoon. The birds had come back and were now twittering away above their heads. Glancing back down at the stranger - and for another moment being lost in his eyes - she cut a one sided smile.
"I haven't seen you around here before, name's Rosalina but everyone calls me Rosie."
Introductions out of the way she ruffled her pony tail slightly, irritated to feel that some of her hair had fallen out. She quickly removed the hair band putting it in her teeth as she gathered her hair up into her hands at the back of her head. Once secured by one hand she grabbed the band with the other and tried to twist it back into place.
SNAP!
She moved her hand back seeing the hair tie had snapped, now it was just a useless string. "Aw man!" |

PARDON ME BUT YOU SAID THAT YOU'D ALWAYS LOVE ME Curiosity would bring their eyes together, Elijah simply starring down at the pinkette. A trail of pink surfacing upon her cheeks. Rosalina diluting her focus by shaking her head to reply to him properly. " He gave me some trouble too. Two tries is better then most players." Elijah mused to her as he shoved his hands into his pants pockets.
Songbirds seemed to bring the area to life with their chirping around the tree that Rosie had picked to relax beneath. Finding time to introduce herself, her name fitting for her pink radiance. Returning the smile to the student, " Probably cause I skip class to play games." Elijah admitted sticking out his tongue. Recollecting his composure before introducing himself, " Sophomore Elijah at your service."
Elijah introduction was out of the way, Rosalina was trying to fix her hair. However a disastrous snap would result in failure for her endeavors. " You just need something to help keep it up right." he asked curiously as he pulled on his ivory scarf. Pulling at the fabric until he tore a long piece of the cloth, offering it to the girl. " You can use this." Elijah expressed.

Elijah, that was a pretty cool name. She hadn't really met a lot of guys named that in her time. After the snap of her hair tie and her tossing it into one of the many pockets on her book bag she looked back up to him as he spoke. Surprise was clear on her face as he tore a part of his own scarf off and handed it to her. Rosie took it looking back at him with a soft smile.
"Wow thank you."
The kindness wasn't lost to Rosie, he didn't have to tear off a piece of his own clothing just so she wouldn't have to deal with her hair in her face. She made quick work to utilize the gift tying it into her hair, she kind of liked that better. With a friendly smile she moved her bag to her other side motioning to the spot she had just cleared up. "Well come on, don't be a stranger have a seat! Man I wish I could skip class to play video games...but if my mom caught wind of that she'd kick my ass to the moon and back."
She smirked sheepishly, knowing her mother that'd be exactly what she'd do too. Speaking of she'd have to call her tonight, if it wasn't four in the morning where her mother was she'd call now but heaven forbid she woke her up. "So you're a sophmore too huh?" |

PARDON ME BUT YOU SAID THAT YOU'D ALWAYS LOVE ME " It is not a big deal." Elijah shared with Rosie. It was just clothing, it could get all tattered and ripped and the boy would still wear it. As long as it was comfortable he could find himself still wearing it. Explaining his current attire of loose clothing. It would be during his line of thought that the girl would invite him to sit with her.
" I guess I got nothing better to do." Elijah mused as he found a seat beside her on the grass, quickly laying down on the soft sod. Looking right up into the bright blue sky, if only he had a cloud for a pillow right now. Hearing Rosie explain that she wished she could just play video games all day too, however she wasn't blessed with his genius it appeared.
Despite not attending any of the classes, Elijah aced all his exams and passed everything he needed too. It just wasn't his style to learn from someone else, he had to do it himself. " It's pretty great laying atop the roof and watching the sky, and busting out some lunch and video games." he mused happily, " it's the life." romancing the idea of being able to play games for the rest of his life.

She held me spellbound in the night "Sure sounds like it is!" Rosie leaned back putting her hands behind her head as she watched the shadows of the leaves dance in the wind. She could picture it: sitting on the roof with your food laid out in front of you and grinding like mad in the virtual world. Rosie would love to do something like that. "Next time you'll have to invite me to come along!" She grinned at Elijah playfully prodding his ribs with her fist as she sat forward again. Always fidgeting, she could not sit still for the life of her. Placing her hand over her eyes she looked up through the branches to the sky, boy was it hot. Why was it that this weather always made her want something sweet? With a smile she grabbed her bag, flung it over her shoulder and stood up. Planting one foot on either side of Elijah she bent down slightly to get a better look at him. "Hey, it's too damn hot out here, what say we go get some ice cream? My treat, as thanks for the noble sacrifice you and you're scarf have made upon this day." She chuckled standing straight again and stepping to the side to let him sit up.
