history lesson
Joséphine was born on July 25, in Ars-en-Ré, a tiny village on the Island of Ré. Her parents had been trying for a baby for years, without any luck. When finally, they had found out that they were going to be having a baby girl, there had been happy tears and watery laughs, as the two had clasped each other. Their baby was born on a warm day, the sky was a cloudless blue, the perfect day for a beautiful girl to enter into the world. However, the two parents had had no idea how to care for a child, and resulted in how their parents had brought them up: rules, rules, and rules. They were strict on Joséphine, demanding she made everything perfect: her homework, her choices, and her present and future life. They wanted their child to be happy in life, to succeed and live richly; however, was this wish for Joséphine or them? The two parents had never been anything fantastic; the father was the to-be owner of a small fishing company and her mother worked as a waitress at a nearby restaurant. They could live out their fantasy through their own child's success.
Joséphine struggled through middle school, as any other child did through the tough educative system, rarely getting above a C, despite all her time studying. Her social skills faltered and it was hard for her to connect with her classmates. As a try to help her, her parents bought her a small dog. Unfortunately, the dog had been abused as a puppy and attacked Joséphine, giving her a scar from her palm to her middle finger. Quickly getting rid of it, the parents were stuck once more as to what they should do. Soon, her parents grew worried that she would become unable to go onto anything big and sent her abroad to study somewhere else. Their only two options was somewhere in the United States or in Japan. Her parents wanted her to go off to the U.S, though through her first act of defiance, Joséphine said she wanted to go to Regency Academy. This was the first moment of her life that she had gone against what her parents wanted; it was the biggest victory for her.
She corresponded with another family who was more than happy to let her live with them, while she studied there. Despite her low grades in France, she has excelled amazingly in the Academy. The place was the best place for her to continue growing academically and socially; as it turns out, Joséphine actually liked being around other people. Like a lot. There's still more room to grow, especially from breaking her habit of being cooped up in her dorm, studying. But she's getting there.
