INTO THE NOTHING LEAVE ME AT THE BOTTOM WHERE THERE'S NOTHING LEFT Brendon stiffened and his gaze roamed back to his roommate when he immediately took charge of the situation once more. “I’ll handle this,” Joshua returned coldly and then stepped forward to retrieve the key he had taken from the other male before moving to the front door and opening it. From the distance he was, Brendon could see the figure standing on the opposite side of the door. The man was much older than any student—and his presence caused the freshmen to dread what was about to happen. The male from before had entered their dorm room and he had had access to the key. The fact that he had successfully gotten a teacher to come to the dormitory at one in the morning…
The dread within the pit of his stomach intensified. Hesitantly, Brendon took a step back and sat himself down on top of his bed. But, he kept his gaze riveted toward the door and watched as the teacher began to step inside and instruct the other student—Ross—to place his suitcase within their room. The scene unfolding confirmed Brendon’s suspicions. But, what was going to happen? Were they going to have a third roommate in this dorm?

ᴅᴀʏ 2 | 12:00ᴀᴍ | ᴄʟᴏᴜᴅʏ sᴋɪᴇs “Ross you can just put your things over there for now,” the teacher instructed but Joshua soon interjected. He actually stepped forward to block the other student from entering his dorm any further. The other student paused as he stared up at him and seemed hesitant with entering now. But the teacher quickly reprimanded the situation.
“There was a mix up at the office,” the teacher began after a moment of pause to observe the odd situation before him. “Brendon you were given the wrong room,” the older male explained and leaned over in order to catch the other boy’s gaze.
“Brendon has already unpacked and settled in,” Joshua instantly intervened his tone dark, but oddly controlled. The possibility of them being separated…felt too surreal for him to accept.
“I know and I’m sorry this happened—”
“It seems inappropriate to switch him now. This other student can simply take the room that’s currently vacant.” Joshua returned and continued to try and handle the situation with care…but it was clear from his voice that his patience was wearing thin.

INTO THE NOTHING LEAVE ME AT THE BOTTOM WHERE THERE'S NOTHING LEFT “There was a mix up at the office. Brendon, you were given the wrong room.” The male teacher’s words struck Brendon like a lance straight to his heart. His features considerably paled. A vice grip settled around his heart and clamped onto it to the point of inflicting physical pain. What…?
“Brendon has already unpacked and settled in.” Joshua interjected almost immediately. But, the sheer force of the shock left Brendon… mute. His gaze settled down against his lap and the pattern of his blue pajama pants. A mix up? What the hell did that mean? What...
“I know and I’m sorry this happened—”
“It seems inappropriate to switch him now. This other student can simply take the room that’s currently vacant.” In the confusion that had unfolded, Joshua continued to be the one to fight for him. Brendon’s heart continued to sink further and further. The dread he had felt in the pit of his stomach had intensified and made him feel sick. He didn’t want to be switched. He wanted to be Joshua’s roommate.
He could feel himself… becoming damnably emotional. He tensed as he felt the burning of his eyes. He clenched his hands tightly into fists and tried to steel the emotions away.
“That’s not how school policy works. We are sorry for the inconvenience. But, Brendon your dorm room number is twenty-five.” The teacher went on to address the subject in such an… infuriatingly… nonchalant way.
Brendon glanced up… but his gaze went to Joshua.
