ᴅᴀʏ 1 | 11:00ᴘᴍ | ᴄʟᴏᴜᴅʏ sᴋɪᴇs Bren… refrained from saying anything more, but Joshua was not satisfied with their silence. He wanted to hear more of his bantering… His emerald gaze rested on the boy’s cheeks as he crossed his arms and glared out towards the students before them.
Joshua’s attention lingered on him for a moment before he glanced towards the crowd and scanned the area for that girl who had bothered them before. He would not deal with her company again. But his mind was on his roommate…and everything that they had been through.
“Why…after everything…do you still allow me to accompany you?” Joshua’s voice was both deep and low as he looked down at the chocolate brown haired boy. From his knowledge…Bren had yet to request a room change…or even threaten to report him.

 INTO THE NOTHING LEAVE ME AT THE BOTTOM WHERE THERE'S NOTHING LEFT Brendon slowly brought his amber gaze toward his roommate and stared at him for a long moment. He remained broodingly silent. However, here in their small corner of space where it was currently just the two of them… he felt more bold.
He turned to fully face Joshua and a sly grin darkened his features. For a moment longer, the brunette continued to study his roommate… and that familiar draw, that familiar pull, was there. He was growing an attachment to Joshua.
“Does it make you wonder?” Brendon taunted him lightly and had no intention of actually answering his question. “Why do I, I wonder?”

ᴅᴀʏ 1 | 11:00ᴘᴍ | ᴄʟᴏᴜᴅʏ sᴋɪᴇs Joshua wasn’t one to speak often…but with Bren…that seemed to be changing. He had said more to this stranger than he had to anyone else in this school. His roommate looked to him and said nothing. The noise surrounding them seemed to become distant…as they held each others gaze. Joshua could feel himself wanting…to hear his voice…to touch him…
He visibly tensed when Bren turned to fully face him…and for a brief moment…he thought Bren was going to give him what he wanted. But the boy merely stood before him and smirked cleverly. The embarrassment he had seen before had vanished…
“Does it make you wonder?” Bren asked in that…infuriating way of his. “Why do I, I wonder?”
Joshua’s expression hardened as the boy’s obvious rejection settled into his mind. Bren was antagonizing him again…and it was always so easy for him to do.
“Do not…press your luck with me…” he warned him darkly as he glanced towards the crowd.

INTO THE NOTHING LEAVE ME AT THE BOTTOM WHERE THERE'S NOTHING LEFT Brendon watched as Joshua’s expression hardened and that angry mask returned to his features. “Do not… press your luck with me…,” He warned him in a deep and masculine tone. He enjoyed hearing his roommate’s voice. But he enjoyed bantering with him even more.
“What could you possibly do?” Brendon questioned him in return. He felt confident and not at all threatened by Joshua given the fact that they were currently standing in a gymnasium filled with other students and teachers alike.

ᴅᴀʏ 1 | 11:00ᴘᴍ | ᴄʟᴏᴜᴅʏ sᴋɪᴇs “What could you possibly do?” Bren returned boldly and patiently waited for his answer. Joshua’s jaw tightened as he brought his gaze back down to his roommate who was staring at him knowingly.
His heart…was beginning to beat heavier and he could feel his aggressive side demanding to be released. But he restrained himself. Bren may have been confident out here…but he was forgetting something very important…
“Nothing here…” Joshua replied simply and paused to look over the crowd before his emerald gaze returned to his roommate.
“But our room...has endless possibilities…” he told him darkly as his mouth drew into a knowing grin.

However, when he turned his gaze back down to him… he was suddenly smiling and seeing his cocky expression immediately caused Brendon to brace himself. “But our room… has endless possibilities…”
Brendon knew all too well the ‘possibilities’ that came attached to their time together in the dorm room. They had already experienced quite a lengthy bit of ‘possibilities’. Brendon gritted his teeth together but didn’t allow his roommate’s statement to affect him. He would fight him head on no matter what was thrown his way.
“Maybe I’ll sleep over at a buddies tonight,” Brendon threatened with a cocky smirk of his own.

“Maybe I’ll sleep over at a buddies tonight,” Bren returned smugly and his words…struck Joshua hard. His expression faltered as he foolishly revealed…how much that bothered him. But just as quickly he clamped down on his emotions and jerked his gaze away from his roommate.
He shouldn’t have reacted. Bren had enough to use against him and now he had just added one more thing. Joshua’s gaze hardened as he clenched his teeth together and remained tense.

INTO THE NOTHING LEAVE ME AT THE BOTTOM WHERE THERE'S NOTHING LEFT Joshua’s expression faltered and for a brief moment… Brendon realized that he was getting to see past his hardened exterior and right into his inner emotions. He had exposed his roommate. He had gotten to see… a different part of him. His own expression unconsciously softened as he continued to watch him, even after Joshua tore his gaze away from him and glared off to the side instead.
Brendon felt… He felt… moved… by the glimpse he had been given. He felt softer emotions inside of him, different emotions that were rare and foreign to him. He didn’t particularly like them and they made him feel vulnerable and exposed as well. It made him feel… awkward. Joshua had done this to him.

ᴅᴀʏ 1 | 11:00ᴘᴍ | ᴄʟᴏᴜᴅʏ sᴋɪᴇs Bren…knew that he had a problem with him around others. Joshua had exposed that truth when they first meet that damned student. Why could this boy so easily see through him?
Joshua’s gaze hardened further and he felt so angry.
“All right listen up everyone! You can all return to your rooms now,” the sound of a teachers voice could be heard calling out and she was soon followed by other teachers who were ushering the students back to their rooms.
Joshua crossed his arms as he waited for the bulk of the students to begin rushing out of the building. He was not looking forward to returning to their room…because he couldn’t do what he wanted… He had successfully done that to himself however by revealing to Bren how much he wanted his company.
What a twisted game they were constantly playing with each other…

INTO THE NOTHING LEAVE ME AT THE BOTTOM WHERE THERE'S NOTHING LEFT “All right listen up everyone! You can all return to your rooms now!” A female teacher announced. Brendon reluctantly brought his gaze toward the teacher and then the other students as everyone began shuffling out of the gymnasium in order to return to their dorms.
“I can’t believe some dweeb pulled the fire alarm,” A female nearby complained as she and a few of her other girlfriends began to head toward the exit doors as well.
“Of course some newbie freshmen had to pull a prank the night before classes start,” One of her friends groaned in response. “It’s already eleven forty-five and classes start at eight tomorrow!”
The female group’s conversation belatedly reminded Brendon of the fact that school life would officially be starting tomorrow. He and Joshua both alike would be getting up at the crack of dawn in order to eat, get ready for their classes, and then head off for the rest of the school day.
The thought caused Brendon… to glance toward his roommate. How was school life going to be? How was Joshua when it came to the academy?

ᴅᴀʏ 1 | 11:00ᴘᴍ | ᴄʟᴏᴜᴅʏ sᴋɪᴇs When his roommate looked to him…Joshua unconsciously caught his gaze but just as quickly severed their eye contact. He was irritated with his roommate for constantly belittling him.
The two of them handled each other differently. Joshua was more physical while Bren was more verbal. They both aggravated each other on purpose. It was a game that only felt good when you were the winner...
Joshua lowered his gaze as he unbuckled the strap to his umbrella and looked to Bren as he waited for them to leave together.
